How DBT Can Help Teenagers

Is your child overwhelmed by emotions, acting impulsively or struggling with self-harm or suicidal thoughts? As a parent, it can feel impossible to know how to help. You might feel powerless as they suffer while you search for the right support – but DBT can help.

Adolescent DBT provides structured, evidence-based support to help young people regulate emotions, manage distress and develop healthier coping strategies. Our experienced therapists work closely with adolescents to teach them the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and emotional stability.

If your child is experiencing emotional dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal thoughts or difficulties in relationships, DBT can help.

ONLINE DBT FOR ADOLESCENTS AND TEENS

WHAT IS DBT-A?

DBT is a structured therapy that uses different therapeutic modes to help young people understand themselves and develop skills to manage their thoughts, urges and behaviours.

DBT-A is specifically adapted for teenagers and adolescents to bring about the best outcomes.

The treatment focuses on helping teens develop and maintain the skills needed to manage emotional dysregulation, impulsive behaviours and friendship difficulties.

WILL IT HELP?

DBT is highly effective in treating adolescents, particularly those struggling with self-harm, suicide attempts, impulsive behaviours and intense, unstable emotions. Our experienced team has been treating teens in group and individual DBT sessions for decades with proven success.

By the end of treatment, adolescents gain greater control over their emotions and behavioural urges, with many no longer experience impulsive urges at all.

DBT is really effective in treating adolescents, particularly those who struggle with symptoms such as self harm, suicide attempts, impulsive behaviours and intense, unstable emotions. In our DBT group and individual sessions, we have decades of experience treating teens quickly and effectively. When adolescents finish our treatments, they are more in control of their emotions and behavioural urges (many teens no longer experience impulsive urges at treatment end!).
